Bathroom Essentials You Need NOW

A bathroom with all the bells and whistles is something we all dream of. Some people can afford all the bells and whistles, while others can only afford the bells.

My goal is to provide you with a comprehensive list of bathroom essentials. I want to guide you no matter where you you fall on the affordability spectrum. Use this must-have list to help you renovate or revamp your bathroom.

We’ll cover functional necessities, organizational tools, and decor items. There’s a little for everyone so buckle up.

Section 1: Essential Bathroom Fixtures

1. Showerheads: As I talked about in my last post, a good shower head can make a bathroom feel more luxurious. And the great part is that installing them doesn’t require a professional. The main shower head types are fixed, rain, handheld, or filtered. Pick the one that is most functional to you or get one that combines different elements.

2. Toilets: This is one that will certainly involve more effort than a shower head. However, if you’re in the market, this is the perfect opportunity to add to the luxe feel. Consider the functionality with styles like elongated toilets, touchless flush, smart toilet, wall hung, and many more.

3. Sinks and Faucets: In my experience, undermont sinks are the superior choice for the bathroom over a bowl or pedestal sink. But of course, this may be different for you. Couple your sink of choice with a nice faucet in your budget. Faucets come in many different finishes, so finding the one for you should be simple.

Section 2: Daily Use Items

1. Towels and Bath Mats: Textiles can bring so much warmth to a space. They can allow you to express your design style especially if they’re on display. A good bath mat should not move around when you step on it. For obvious reasons, a slippery bath mat and water aren’t a great combo. A good towel should fit around you well, dry you quickly, dry quickly itself, and look good too. I personally recommend waffle weave towels. I’ve used them for three years now and they do all the above.

2. Toothbrush Holder and Soap Dispenser: No matter the type of container you use, you should have something to house things like your toothbrush, tongue scraper, and water flosser. Mugs could work, an actual toothbrush holder, or a tray. Soap dispensers come in a few options so take your pick between an automatic dispenser or a pump.

3. Shower Caddy: The best shower caddy allows water to pass threw without holding onto it creating mold and allows your products to stand up without falling. I recommend a metal, rack-like shower caddy for this purpose.

Section 3: Storage Solutions

1. Cabinets and Shelves: If you’re renovating, this is the perfect opportunity to add additional cabinets and shelving. Along with built-ins, you’re gonna want to add containers. They are perfect for consolidating like items. A container for skincare, a container for hygienic tools, one for towels, and so on.

2. Drawer Organizers: There benefits of using organizers for smaller items that you may store in a drawer. These are good for a frictionless hygiene routine. You can better locate your products and ultimately save time in the morning when you’ve pressed the snooze button one too many times.

3. Over-the-Toilet Storage: I also suggest you utilize vertical space effectively. This could be a great option for those of you who aren’t renovating but lack a bathroom pantry or just looking for more space.

Section 4: Cleaning and Maintenance Supplies

1. Cleaning Products: You could have the most beautiful bathroom in the world but if you don’t clean it properly, it may as well be a run down motel bathroom. To ensure your bathroom feels like a spa, you should use cleaning supplies like glass cleaner, tub and surface cleaner, dusters, and wipes. There are environmentally friendly options for these items as well. But the point is to keep your bathroom clean!

2. Plunger and Toilet Brush: Toilets are probably the filthiest part of a bathroom. From bad aim to clogs, we put our toilets through a lot. It is crucial to have a good plunger. If you ever have to use it, you want it to work without folding in on itself or taking ages to unclog. And of course you need a proper toilet bowl brush. You could choose a traditional one or a toilet wand system with refills.

3. Air Fresheners and Deodorizers: From plugins, to candles, sprays, toilet deodorizers or diffusers. You cannot go wrong with any of these to keep your bathroom smelling fresh.

Section 5: Comfort and Convenience

1. Bathrobes and Slippers: Robes and slippers are perfect for relaxation. I believe relaxation starts in the bathroom. So what better place to house a luxe robe with cozy slippers.

2. Shower Curtain and Liner: If you have the pleasure of a glass shower, then congrats that you don’t have to worry about this. Now for those of you in need of a liner, I suggest a liner with strong magnets to ensure it stays out of your way while showering. As for the shower curtain, you can have fun here. Don’t be afraid to use a window curtain. It’ll give you more options. But ultimately, make sure that your curtain and liner combo is the correct length so you aren’t soaking your floors.

3. Trash Can and Hamper: There are so many options for waste bins and hampers. Options for size, functionality, aesthetics. Find the one that combines the perfect elements for you. Having these will help with the organization of your bathroom.

Section 6: Decorative Touches

1. Wall Art and Mirrors: For personality and style, you’re gonna want to add some wall art and at least one mirror. Every other room in your home probably showcases your style, so why not the bathroom.

2. Plants and Greenery: Plants can enhance the bathroom environment. Plants bring so much life to any space. Don’t be afraid to add them to your bathroom. Find a plant that’ll survive the bathroom and that won’t obstruct any functionality. You can use this article from House Beautiful to find what fits best.

Conclusion

Whether you’ve just moved in or have been in your place for a while, these are things every functional and comfortable bathroom should have. Evaluate your current bathroom setup and consider adding some of these suggested items. They should add that extra level of convenience you may have been missing.
